Glenn Myer, who was being held at the Adult Detention Center, succumbed to medical issues in the hospital on July 15, Fairfax County Police reported.

Myer was incarcerated since 2020 after he shot someone in his apartment and proceeded to shoot law enforcement when they arrived at the scene, officials said.

In that incident, police shot and wounded Myer, who was arrested for his crimes a few days after his hospital treatment, police reported.

He was charged with two counts of attempted capital murder of a law enforcement officer, attempted first degree murder, and other related offenses, authorities said.

Police said Myer was also suffering a terminal illness at the time of the medical emergency.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of Myer's death, officials said.
